Job Description

Growth within our organisation means we now have a new full-time Quality Assurance Engineer opportunity to join our Development Operations Technology team.

The Quality Assurance Engineer reports to the Lead Development Operations Engineer working as part of the broader Technology team. You will represent QA in agile represent QA in stand-ups, planning sessions, reviews, and retrospectives, actively shaping acceptance criteria, defining user stories, and creating test scenarios during refinement to ensure clarity and quality from the outset. You will build, maintain, and execute automation frameworks using RAID, Cucumber, and BrowserStack in a BDD approach to ensure comprehensive test coverage across various devices and environments.

You will provide regular updates to the team, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, ensure all solutions are robust, reliable, and fully tested before release, maintain QA reporting, promote knowledge-sharing across engineering, and provide guidance and support to team members as needed.

 

The candidate

As the ideal candidate, you bring over two years of experience as a QA Engineer, with strong expertise in using BrowserStack to perform functional, exploratory, and cross-browser testing. You ensure a seamless user experience across desktop, mobile, and PWA platforms, and have experience writing BDD scenarios using Cucumber for web and Android applications. You have a solid background in UAT and general testing practices, along with familiarity in React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Additionally, you demonstrate a clear understanding of CI/CD processes, ensuring quality is embedded throughout the development lifecycle.

Experience in a not‑for‑profit organisation would be highly regarded, but not essential. An understanding of digital publishing environments would be a bonus!

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years’ experience as a QA Engineer with a strong background in automated testing.
  • Familiarity with React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • API testing experience.
  • Solid understanding of integrating Cucumber-based tests into CI/CD pipelines to support a robust development lifecycle.
  • Experience supporting Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform is desirable.
  • Knowledge of ITIL and IT service management principles is desirable.
  • Ability to analyse requirements and design and implement effective remediation strategies.
  • Clear and concise communication of customer updates, test results, risks, and recommendations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Effective time management and prioritisation in fast-paced agile environments.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate easily at all levels.
  • Strong work ethic and presence.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team, fostering a positive team environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a drive for efficiency.
